This stained glass panel, now displayed in the Muskerry club house is the work of club member Ian Carrington. It incorporates panels depicting aspects of golf and life at Muskerry at the time of MacKenzies’ extension of the original 9 hole course of 1907, to one of 18 holes in 1924.
The work at Muskerry was MacKenzie’s first commission in Southern Ireland, and led to work at Cork, Lahinch, Monkstown, and LImerick. The resulting course at Muskerry was described in a contemporaneous report as ‘ a bold and beautiful course capable of absorbing the interest and attention of any player whatever v the handicap may be’. The members have taken care to ensure this accolade remains true today.
